Cupcakke is in the hospital after posting a suicidal message on social media.
The 21-year-old Chicago-based rapper (nee Elizabeth Harris) was taken to the hospital for a “mental evaluation,” according to BBC.
The rapper tweeted that she was about to die by suicide and added the caption on Instagram, “Thank you for everything y’all have done for me, I really appreciate it.”
More than 10,000 concerned people responded to Cupcakke’s tweet and to tell her how loved she is, including Charli XCX, who tweeted, “Cupcakke please read this. You have taught me and so many others so much about being ourselves, embracing exactly who we are and being proud of where we come from.”
The Chicago Police Department mentioned “officers went out a few times to check on Elizabeth. Once they got in touch with her, they took her to the hospital—not for her injuries—but for a mental evaluation.”
Cupcakke is known for her highly sexualized lyrics, talking about masturbation, female sexuality, and body positivity.
