It’s Over for Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson

It’s Over for Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson

Hours before the split news came into light, comedian Pete Davidson joked about getting dumped by singer Ariana Grande during a segment of ‘Weekend Update” on a recent episode of Saturday Night Live. The engagement comes to a halt after the singer’s former boyfriend Mac Miller died from a fatal overdose, which was the tipping point of their split according to reports from TMZ and People.com.

“Sources close to the former couple tell us AG (Ariana Grande)  and PD (Pete Davidson) split this weekend, with both parties acknowledging that it simply was not the right time for their relationship to take off,” TMZ announced. “We’re told the two still have love for each other, but things are over romantically.”

After a whirlwind romance that began in May and led to a proposal with a 3-carat, $100,000 engagement ring from Davidson after only a few weeks of dating. Fans considered Davidson, the son of a firefighter who died on 9/11, a great match for Grande, who has been enduring her own trauma in the wake of the Manchester bombing.

Grande has been noticeably absent from social media and canceling scheduled performances, which led to delaying her tour indefinitely. The report of her relationship ending comes on the heels of a canceled performance at a cancer benefit this weekend, where Trevor Noah performed in her place. Grande’s manager, Scooter Braun, reportedly told the audience that Grande needed time to “heal.”

"It was way too much too soon," a Grande source told People. "It's not shocking to anyone."
